Time To Get Manly 31: Traveling Wilburys - Traveling Wilburys, Volume 1

I randomly ran across a list of what Esquire magazine claims are "The 75 Albums Every Man Should Own." In this series of posts, I'll explore these manly, manly sounds.

Traveling Wilburys - Traveling Wilburys, Volume 1

The very idea of a "super group" seems particularly manly to me, seeing how many men I know enjoy things like fantasy football. Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and George Harrison? In the same band? Shut up. It's hard to believe that the Traveling Wilburys really existed and weren't just dreamed up by some nerdy music geek who also manages a fantasy band that consists of Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Bono, Michael Jackson and Sting.

that second band scares the shit out of me.

How could that be good? I don't like springsteen. But him an Bono and Elton John are good at playing nice with others. Sting is the worst despite the Police being awesome (sorry, copeland is the best). But MJ... HOW COULD IT FAIL TO BE GREAT?????

I was just throwing big artists off the top of my head that would seem slightly more preposterous than the Traveling Wilburys. The fact that you actually thought the feasibility of a Elton-Springsteen-Bono-Sting-Jackson super group through tells me you probably have a fantasy sports team or two out there somewhere. ;)
